I love stories. In my view, storytelling is the art of describing human nature and our world. Scientific, fact-based descriptions purposely focus on accuracy and clarity, yet unless one has achieved a relevant level of education or expertise these descriptions are often devoid of digestible meaning. We must be taught to understand ourselves and the world as matter but present the same information in a fable about a fox and even a child can understand. We evolved to perceive meaning in narratives so Crooked Timber is a blog devoted to exploring the relationship between stories, storytellers, and understanding human nature.
